21. Institutional and technical cooperation

ICP-ANACOM has an important role pursuing cooperation with other institutions and agencies, at a national and international level. The goal of this activity is to promote and disseminate regulations, national laws and regulatory practices adopted by ICP-ANACOM and exchanging experience with other organisations; this makes a key contribution, in relation to electronic communications and postal services.

The activity of cooperation with other regulators takes place, as detailed in the previous section, not only in the EU but also in Eastern Europe and around the Mediterranean, as well as with the Ibero-American community of South American countries, and especially with Portuguese-speaking countries. In this context, the NRA of CPLP members are the main beneficiaries of the strategy and implementation of the activities undertaken, with ICP-ANACOM focusing its contribution on the construction of more open and competitive markets, based on a concept of institutional and entrepreneurial cooperation and driven by economic growth in these countries.

Although less prominent in the general framework of cooperation, it is important to report on a further set of actions, taking place on a multilateral or bilateral basis with third countries (particularly other Portuguese-speaking countries) and with national organisations. The actions performed in this respect in 2012 are listed below.
