The European Commission held a workshop on 18 January in Brussels to launch two studies on the postal sector:
- "The evolution of the Regulatory Model for European Postal Services", study to be done by WIK-Consult; and
- "Development of competition in the European postal sector", study to be done by ECORYS.
Realisation of these studies is under the scope of the report on application of the Postal Directive (Directive 97/67/EC, modified by Directive 2002/39/EC), which the Commission must present to the European Parliament and to the Council every two years, including appropriate information on the sector?s evolution, specifically with regard to economic, social, job-related and technological aspects, and to quality of service.
