ICP grants license to Eastécnica IV for fixed telephone service

ICP has granted a license to Eastécnica IV - Redes de Comunicações, S.A. for provision of Fixed Telephone Services. With this license, the operator is empowered to provide Fixed Telephone Services throughout Portuguese territory, under the terms of Decree-Law nr. 381-A/97, of December 30, which establishes the access regime to the business of public-use public telecommunications network operator.

Eastécnica IV thus stands alongside OniTelecom, Sonae - Redes de Dados, Maxitelsat, Teleweb, Jazztel, Optimus, Telecel, Global One, Interoute, TMN and Madem as operators that have already been licensed via the process initiated on June 15, 1999 by the Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal.

Eastécnica IV was simultaneously granted a license as a public telecommunications network operator. With this license, the company is empowered to establish and supply a public telecommunications network, providing telephone connections at the national level, and interconnection with foreign networks and services.
