Decision on the universal postal service tariff proposal, notified by CTT on 14.02.2013

By determination of 27 March 2013, ANACOM decided not to oppose the tariff proposal in the scope of the universal postal service, to apply with effect from 1 April 2013, notified by CTT - Correios de Portugal (CTT) on 14 February, under the Universal Postal Service Price Convention.

It was also decided to recommend to CTT, holding now or in the future mail acceptance centres where the unit costs of accepting national standard bulk mail with a weight of up to 50 g are similar to the costs incurred by CTT when accepting the same service in the four business mail centres currently located in Lisbon (Cabo Ruivo and Pinheiro de Fora), Coimbra (Taveiro) and Oporto (Maia), that the company extends to those acceptance centres the possibility of granting access to prices of national standard bulk mail with a weight of up to 50 g charged in the referred four business mail centres.

The reports on the prior hearing and public consultation, procedures to which the respective draft decision, approved by determination of 15 February 2013, was submitted, were also approved on this date. In this scope, contributions were received from the Associação de Consumidores de Portugal (the Portuguese Consumer Association), CTT and the Associação Portuguesa de Imprensa (the Portuguese Press Association), the latter submitter by the Confederação Portuguesa dos Meios de Comunicação Social (the Portuguese Media Confederation), as well as an opinion from ANACOM's Advisory Council (specialist committee).
