ANACOM to hold information sessions across Madeira on DTT

In partnership with ANAFRE - Associação Nacional de Freguesias (National Association of Parishes) and in cooperation with the Serviço Regional de Defesa do Consumidor (Regional Consumer Protection Service), ANACOM is conducting a series of information session in Madeira on migration to DTT - Digital Terrestrial Television.

The sessions, which began on 30 January, are open to members of the public and aim to provide staff from Parishes, Municipal Councils and Casas do Povo ("People's Houses") with information to help Madeira's viewers migrate to digital television.

The analogue television signal in the Autonomous region of Madeira will be switched off on 22 March.

Migration to DTT will have limited impact in the region, given that 95% of the population already have paid television or subscribe to "Pacote Zero", which provides reception of the 5 free-to-air channels (RTP1,RTP2, RTP Madeira, SIC and TVI).

Only people who receive just two channels, RTP1 and RTP Madeira, will have to migrate to DTT, which will also allow them to watch all five channels free of charge.
