ERG Developments

The European Regulators Group (ERG) has released the final report on IP interconnection in Europe. The report covers the current evolution seen in this area, reflecting the developments towards Next Generation Networks (NGN) and the massive adoption of IP based services such as VoIP. Its aim is to present the state of the art in IP interconnection in Europe and to outline how technological change towards NGNs may affect regulation.

The report is a result of an analysis of the responses sent by national regulatory authorities and various European industry associations to a questionnaire, released in 2006, on a range of issues connected to the transition of IP interconnection and the development of NGNs.

The ERG has also launched a public consultation on the regulatory principles governing next generation access (NGA). Interested parties can send their comments by 11 June, by email to erg-secretariat@ec.europa.eu, with the subject ''ERG NGA 2007''.
