A GSMA (GSM Assocatiation) technical workshop was held last 21 May in Brussels, attended by members of the project team on International Roaming (IRPT) of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and representatives from the European Commission. The workshop began with a GSMA presentation on the functioning of roaming communications networks. Various basically technical aspects were also highlighted and explained, and should be taken into account in the ongoing IRPT analysis of alternatives to the current international roaming regulation – Regulation (EC) no. 544/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council – and when revising that regulation per the respective article 11, to be carried out by the European Commission.
