ANACOM authorises UMTS900 technology trials - TMN

ANACOM has granted TMN authorisation to carry out technical trials with UMTS900 technology in the GSM extension band.

The authorisation, which is valid for the period of the trials (15 November 2007 to 15 February 2008), is granted strictly for carrying out technical trials. The frequencies may not be used for commercial exploitation or for any other service. Authorisation is granted on the basis that the trials do not cause interference to other operating radiocommunications services and that in the event of such interference is caused, the trials shall cease immediately.

The granting of this authorization does not imply any commitment, obligation or constraint regarding the future use of UMTS900 type systems in Portugal, it does imply any obligation on ANACOM's part nor does it in any way imply any right, expectation, or protected interest on the part of TMN.
