ERG documents and consultations on roaming

The European Regulators Group (ERG) has published “International Roaming Regulation – ERG Guidelines 2nd Release” – a set of guidelines on roaming covering issues such as tariffs, welcome messages, which are complementary to the provisions set out in the Regulation on roaming, published on 29 June, and to the guidelines published in July 2007. However these guidelines do not constitute a legal interpretation of the Regulation.

While the document is effective from its publication on 22 August, ERG invites all interested parties to send their comments by 5 September by email to erg@ec.europa.eu, with the subject “Comments 2nd Roaming Guidelines".

Another document, “Draft model data specification”, which was also published on 22 August, specifies the data that will form the core data set required by national regulatory authorities in supervising and monitoring compliance with the roaming Regulation. ERG expects to publish a report, drawing on information gathered using this data specification, on the roaming regulation at the end of this year. This document is also under consultation, and interested partied should send their comments by 5 September by email to erg@ec.europa.eu, with the subject "Comments Data Model - Roaming.
