ANACOM has decided, by determination of 17 November 2009, not to oppose the entry into force on 1 January 2010 of the residential tariff proposed for the telephone service at a fixed location, within the scope of universal service, as presented by PT Comunicações (PTC) on 30 October 2009, which covers both the main tariff and the alternative tariff (applicable on an optional basis at the request of customers).
In this context, PTC is bound to comply with the required obligations of transparency
It was also decided that, in the event that is deemed that the price-cap will not be fulfilled under this proposal, PTC shall implement, in good time, an additional reduction to the base tariff.
Given the alteration to the pricing structure associated with the main tariff, whereas the alternative tariff scheme maintains its current structure, PTC shall properly advertise the existence and specific conditions associated with both tariff options, which must be carried out under the same terms and with the same relevance with respect to both tariffs. PTC shall perform the above disclosure by publicising it on its website and the through the correspondence which will be sent to customers to inform them of changes to the base tariff.
The tariff in question has already been submitted to the Advisory Council pursuant to the provisions of paragraph c) of article 37 of the Statutes of the Authority, as approved by Decree-Law No 309/2001 of 7 December.
