Group of Experts on Electric Commerce meeting - Brussels


The Group of Experts on Electronic Commerce held a meeting last 10 September in Brussels, chaired by the European Commission. Highlights included the presentation of new initiatives regarding online privacy such as the Hadopi Law in France, Digital Britain in the United Kingdom, and the new legal framework for blocking websites in the fight against child pornography in Germany.

The meeting also saw debate on application of article 3 point 4 of the Electronic Commerce Directive (EU co-operation), the 'directed activity' concept from Brussels Convention I. Lastly, the European Commission presented a report on ''Cross-Border E-Commerce'' and described the current situation regarding application of the competition right to vertical limits in electronic commerce.
