8th meeting of WGFM PT 45 - Copenhagen

Copenhagen hosted last 16-17 September the eighth meeting of project team (PT) 45 of the Frequency Management working group (WG FM). Per the group’s revised mandate, it is fundamentally in charge of preparing by April 2010 three ECC draft reports or recommendations, besides ongoing tasks involving management of the CEPT Plans WI95revCO07 and MA02revCO07.

The first draft, completed during this meeting, covers future possibilities to digitalise audio broadcasting band II, with the DRM+ system (or DRM120, based on the Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) system) standing out as the candidate in the best position.

The second draft concerns the revision of technical parameters and criteria for DRM development in the LF and MF bands, as well as in the HF 26 MHz band and in VHF bands I and II for local coverage; operation in single frequency networks (SFNs) should also be considered.

The third draft concerns revision of technical parameters and criteria for use of the L band (1452-1479.5 MHz) by terrestrial multimedia mobile systems (DVB-H and T-DMB, for example). In this item’s context, information is being analysed to enable definition of the parameters needed for co-ordination of terrestrial digital audio broadcasting (T-DAB) with satellite digital audio broadcasting (S-DAB).
