53rd WG SE meeting - Hvar

The Croatian city of Hvar hosted last 4-8 May the 53rd meeting of the Spectrum Engineering working group (WG SE), which was attended by 51 participants, including observers from the Committee on Radio Astronomy Frequencies (CRAF) of the European Radiocommunication Office (ERO), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and Digital Europe.

The meeting saw various documents approved after the public consultation phase, specifically, the revisions of ECC Report 113 (''Compatibility Studies around 63 GHz Between Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Other Systems'') and ECC report 114 (''Compatibility Studies Between Multiple Gigabit Systems in Frequency Range 57-66 GHz and Other Services and Systems (except ITS in 63-64 GHz)''.

On the other hand, the following draft reports were provisionally adopted and submitted to consultation: ECC Report on ''Analisys of Potential Impact of Mobile Vehicle Radars (VR) on Radar Speed Meters (RSM) Operating at 24GHz'' and ECC Report on ''Inductive Limits in the Frequency Range 9 148.5 kHz''.

Also set up was a new working team in WG SE, PT 43, which will be in charge of determining technical requirements for software defined radio/cognitive radio (SDR/CR) in the 470-790 MHz frequency band, specifically in the ''empty spaces''.

The next meeting of the Spectrum Engineering working group will be held this coming 7-11 September in the French city of Bordeaux.
