UPAEP Future Development working group meeting - Montevideo

The working group on Future UPAEP Development (WG FD) of the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (UPAEP) met last 20 April in Montevideo, with a view to reviewing the work accomplished and to be presented at the annual meeting of the Union's Consultative and Executive Council (CEC).

WG FD began with the work of surveying the current rules framework in the UPAEP, a task conducted by Argentina and Uruguay. This was followed by the presentation of conclusions from the Madrid Regulation Forum, which resulted in a proposed resolution. Spain presented a proposal to set up a Sectorial Committee, while Portugal presented three sets of Group proposals concerning harmonisation of the UPAEP Acts, replacement of the Postal Administration term and improvement of the legal texts.

The report prepared by Portugal was approved by the WG, without jeopardising any co-ordination before the CEC with the heads of the Technical Co-operation and Strategy Planning WGs in the areas affecting those three.
