OECD Report ''Measuring the Information Economy 2002'' on-line

What is the growth rate of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector and what is its weight in the context of the economies of the Organization for the Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)? What is the e-business volume and what are the barriers to its development?

These and other issues are replied in the OECD report "Measuring the Information Economy 2002", published in December 2002, which presents an analysis of the role of the new information technologies, both in terms of economic growth and social changes, within the scope of the member countries of this Organization.

This report, in which preparation ANACOM has participated, discloses more than 80 new indicators on information society, supported in definitions, common methods and guidelines defined by OECD, allowing, therefore, to compare, at the international level, the following aspects:  access to the new information technologies and respective differences in quality and price, disclosure of the use of the Internet in the small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), volume of e-business transactions, barriers to e-business, and the weight of ICT in the various governing sectors, among other aspects.

Apart from this publication, ANACOM has also participated in the preparation of the brochure "Measuring the Information Society 2002".
