Digital terrestrial television in April 2012

At its meeting on 26 February, the Council of Ministers approved the resolution which establishes the base methodology for the transition to the digital terrestrial television broadcasting system, a process which will be led by ANACOM with the support of a digital television transition monitoring group.

According to the corresponding communication, analogue transmissions will be switched off nationally by 26 April 2012, while ensuring a period of simultaneous digital and analogue broadcasting (simulcast) lasting at least 12 months; this period will help minimise the impact of the transition on consumers.
