The General Assembly of the Independent Regulators Group (IRG) was held last 4 December in Budapest. The current chairman summarised the activities undertaken in 2008, stressing the IRG's legal recognition as an association under Belgian private law and the secretariat's establishment in Brussels. The new secretariat members, who will begin their duties in 2009, were presented.
Also presented were new versions of the high level papers (HLPs) on revision of the regulatory framework; the chairman was granted a mandate to report, when requested, the IRG's position on this subject. John Doherty of the Irish regulator ComReg was elected IRG chairman for the year 2010.
