European Regulators Group Meeting - Budapest


The European Regulators Group (ERG) met last 4-5 December in Budapest, where highlights included the debate on next generation networks (NGN) policy in Europe, based on the presentations given by various national regulatory authorities, among them ANACOM.

The meeting also reviewed the current status of a number of working programme items, specifically monitoring the application of common positions, international roaming, consumer defence, convergence and co-operation between the ERG and the Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG). Also approved were the 2009 working programme and the framework of the PTs (project teams). John Doherty of the Irish regulator (ComReg) was elected chairman of the ERG, a position he will hold in 2010.
