5th Meeting ECC WG FM PT45 - Copenhagen

Copenhagen hosted last 2-3 July the 5th meeting of project team FM PT45 of the Frequency Management working group (WG FM) of the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC). Per this team's reworked mandate, preparations began on the draft ECC report about the future possibilities for digitalisation of VHF Band II. The DRM+ (or DRM120, based on the system DRM - Digital Radio Mondiale) system stood out as the best positioned candidate.

The meeting considered the need to develop parameters and technical criteria for DRM development in the LF/MF, HF and VHF (I and II) bands, for local coverage and for SFN network coverage (in this case, excluding the LF band).

Lastly, the question of growing demand for SAB/SAP (services ancillary to broadcasting/services ancillary to programme making) applications was considered. This implies an increased need for new spectrum requirements due to the likelihood of future constraints in the currently available bands.
