The 25th meeting of the Communications Committee (COCOM) was held last 18 April in Brussels, chaired by the European Commission (EC). Noteworthy among the subjects of discussion was the EC's presentation of a proposed recommendation on the non-technical conditions applied to Wireless Access Platforms for Electronic Communications Services (WAPECS) and, following on the Commission Decision on telephone numbering starting with 116, presentation of the description of the missing children service. The current status of the public consultation on mobile satellite service (MSS), due to end on 30 May, was also reviewed, and on the Committee subgroup meetings.
