OCG ECN&S Group - Sophia Antipolis

The 16th meeting of the ETSI Operational Co-ordination Group - Electronic Communications Networks and Services (OCG ECN&S) was held last 30 November in the French City of Sophia Antipolis.

The main goal of this meeting was to present contributions for the work being carried out by STF (specialist task force) 311 to study the impact of next generation networks (NGN) on the regulation of electronic communications, and to determine the structure of the special report (SR). STF 311 will assess how to reflect each one of the contributions in the SR, whose preliminary version should be released in March 2007. The objectives of this SR are: to assess the consequences of NGN standardisation from the regulatory standpoint; to identify standardisation work conducted with public interest aims; and to identify areas where it is necessary to carry out standardisation work with the aims of public interest and increased market competition.

The next OCG ECN&S meeting will be held this coming 22 May at a site still to be determined.
