Technical Committee 215/ Working Group 1 - Brussels

The Belgian capital hosted the 7-8 June meeting of working group 1 of CENELEC Committee 215, which closely studied the reports from various bodies, namely other groups from CENELEC and the International Electrotechnical Commission - IEC (CLC SC46XC, IEC 46C, IEC TC46, IEC SC46A WG2, IEC SC86A, IEC SC48B WG3, CLC TC86B, CLC TC215 WG2, IEEE, TIA/ EIA). The aim was to harmonise international standards being developed and to collect updated technical information. The following European standards are currently in development phase: EN50173-1 - General Requirements, EN50173-2 - Office Premises, EN50173-3 - Industrial Premises, EN50173-4 - Homes and EN50173-5 - Data Centres.

There continues to be a great deal of interest in European telecommunications infrastructures in buildings, with growing awareness that buildings must be prepared for new technologies, not just for operators or access networks, making this subject a relevant factor in telecommunications development.
