ECC TG3 - Maisons-Alfort

/ Updated on 17.07.2006

The 12th meeting of the working group ECC TG3-UWB (Ultra Wide Band) was held from 30 November to 2 December in Maisons-Alfort, France.

The meeting considered specific UWB applications, namely GPR (ground probing radar)/WPR (wall probing radar) viewing systems and building material analysis applications. Two working documents were produced containing analyses of compatibility between these applications and radiocommunications services, and also identifying the work to carry out in the future to find the regulatory solution for these applications.

Work also began on defining parameters for the DAA (detect and avoid) mitigation technique, which involves generic UWB applications from 3.1 to 4.8 GHz. The LDC (low duty cycle) mitigation technique was also considered, and it was verified that more studies must be conducted to prove the efficiency of that technique.

Regarding the work carried out by Task Group 1/8 (TG1/8) of the International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunications Sector (ITU-R), TG3 was informed that the proposed decisions on UWB technology are in the ITU-R working parties WP1A and WP1B of Study Group 1 (SG1) ? Spectrum Management.
