The first meeting of the ITU Council working group in charge of preparing the organisation?s draft financial and strategy plans for the 2008-2011 period was held on 27-28 October in Geneva, Switzerland.
This group was established at the 2005 session of the ITU Council and must report to next year?s session, which will study the result of its work in order to propose the respective financial and strategy plan drafts to the 2006 Plenipotentiary Conference (PP06).
The group is chaired by Marie-Odile Beau of France and is open to all ITU members regarding the strategy plan, and only to the Member States regarding the financial plan. This first meeting was focused basically on organisation, establishing the calendar for the group?s work, specifically for the reception of contributions from the various parties involved, particularly from the advisory groups of the three ITU sectors, which meet in November and December, the secretariat and the ITU members. An initial exchange of ideas as to the structure and general orientation of the two plans also took place.
The next meeting will be held on 30-31 January 2006.
