ECC/PT2-TRIS met on 28-29 September in Vilnius (Lithuania), where two reports were approved:

  • Access to emergency services via voice over internet protocol (VoIP), describing the eventual impact of access to emergency service, bearing in mind the peripatetic nature of a VoIP application;

  • A new interconnection model, based on the new network architecture (Next Generation Networks) and taking into account the possibility of interconnecting networks with the IP protocol, replacing the current SS#7 protocol (ITU-T No. 7 signalling system).

Three reports for public consultation were also finalised, on:

  • Implementation of ACR (Automatic Call Rejection), updating the situation in various countries with regard to the adoption and implementation of the principle of being able to reject calls without identification (without CLI ? Calling Line Identification);

  • The necessity, migration and functions of the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), identifying the functions contained in this version and the possible methods of migration from the current version (IPv4) to version 6;

  • The status of VDSL (Very High Bitrate Digital Subscriber Line) implementation, vis-à-vis the features of this code, specifically enabling the offer of ?triple play? - television, telephone and broadband internet - and also identifying existing options with respect to the frequencies used and indicating limits with regard to copper cables or the need to install active equipment in the secondary distribution frames.
