Study Group 13 - Geneva

Study Group 13 of the International Telecommunication Union Standardisation Sector (ITU-T) met from 26 August to 8 September 2005 in Geneva, Switzerland, to consider standardisation of Next Generation Networks (NGN), specifically in the areas of architecture, services, signalling requirements and service quality.

Parallel to this meeting, the NGN FG (NGN focus group) met. For the past year it had acted to stimulate the work of Study Group 13. This group?s functions are due to finish at the end of this year; its core activities will be transferred to the various ITU-T working groups. As a consequence, the first ITU-T recommendations on NGN should appear in early 2006.
