Luxembourg hosted on 7 June the European Conference on High Definition Television (HDTV), organised by the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union Council, supported by the European Commission.
The event was meant to draw speakers from the public and private sector, as a way to foster initiatives to promote high definition television in Europe. HDTV is currently viewed as the television reception format of the future in the most advanced audiovisual markets, and has already become reality for millions of users in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, South Korea and Japan.
Portugal?s participation was assured by ANACOM, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Works, Transports and Communications (MOPTC).
