ECC PT SE7 - Helsinki

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

PT SE7 (responsible for land mobile service issues) met in Helsinki, Finland, on 17-18 May, with about 23 participants present. Regarding the development of a border co-ordination methodology (for mobile service), the group awaits the new version of the SEAMCAT compatibility calculation tool with which it can study the various approaches presented to date.

Regarding the use of GSM mobile terminals on board aircraft, the scenarios to study are being finalised, along with some key parameters for same. This data is included in a report, with Interim ECC Draft Report status, to be presented at the next plenary session of the Spectrum Engineering group (WG SE).

Some issues remain pending due to the need to obtain orientations, to be requested at the next WG SE plenary session, specifically: the need to study the impact of GSM terrestrial stations on airborne stations (given that the Regulatory Affairs group - WG RA - will be mandated for that question); the impact of stations with technologies operating in other frequency bands (GSM 400, GSM 1900, CDMA 450, UMTS 2.5 GHz FDD - 2620 - 2690, UMTS 900 and UMTS 1900).
