ECC PT SE7 - Brest

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

Project team PT SE7, which covers land mobile service issues, met in Brest, France, on 19-20 April, with about 17 participants present. The meeting was basically meant to focus on the use of land mobile service (GSM and UMTS, among others) terminals on board aircraft.

With respect to this issue the definitions of situations to simulate were finalised, along with some key parameters such as effective gain of antennas in terrestrial networks, propagation model, aircraft fuselage attenuation, admissible noise level values, and protection value calculation methodology.

Some issues remained pending due to the need for clarifications to solicit at the next plenary session of the Spectrum Engineering group (WG SE), specifically the need to study earth stations? impact on stations on board aircraft (given that the Regulatory Affairs group (WG RA) may study this matter) and compatibility with stations of services assigned to other frequency bands (specifically CDMA ? multiple access by codes technique ? in the 450 MHz band).
