WG Regulatory Issues, WG Economic Issues, WG UPU Issues - Lisbon

A joint meeting of the working groups on Regulatory issues, Economic Issues and Universal Postal Union (UPU) Issues was held on 7-8 April, in Lisbon.

The meeting saw debate over the British and Swedish presentations concerning postal sector liberalisation, tangible issues involving the liberalisation of cross-border mail, including debate on consequences of the UPU decision on extraterritorial offices of exchange and the compensation fund for universal postal service.

The postal monopoly for incoming international mail, international returns and reorganisation of the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP) were also discussed.

The second European Commission report on application of the Postal Directive was also presented and debated.
