WRC Workshop - Brussels

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

A workshop on the upcoming 2007 World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC07) was held in Brussels on 11 March, organised by the European Commission and the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT).

The workshop?s main goal was to encourage debate on the most significant WRC07 theme topics, and also to hear various opinions, particularly from industry and spectrum users who may be affected by the decisions of that conference.

The presentations were divided among four sessions that specifically encompassed the information society, scientific services, transports and other issues.

The debate with the most participation concerned the information society, with special emphasis on issues involving the third mobile generation (IMT2000 and systems beyond). It was stressed that more spectrum will be needed to enable new services with more capacity in the scope of that system.
