The third meeting of the Expert Group on Standardisation - Communications Committee (EGS-COCOM) was held on 26-27 January in Brussels.
It was accompanied by the Operational Co-ordination Group - Electronic Communications Networks and Services (OCG ECN&S) of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), which is in charge of carrying out Standardisation Mandate M328 to develop a list of standards in the scope of electronic communications.
This meeting resulted in a document defining the criteria for identifying standardisation work that should constitute the list of standards.
The member States in turn should encourage use of this list in order to ensure interoperability and free choice by consumers, as stipulated in article 17 of the Framework Directive, transposed by article 29 of the new regime for electronic communications (Regicom).
