ANACOM represents Portugal in the OECD Committee on Digital Economy Policy


The 93rd meeting of the Digital Economy Policy of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) was held in Paris (France) from 3 to 5 April 2024. Portugal was represented by Ana Pereira Lopes, from ANACOM’s Foreign Affairs and Development Office.

Topics discussed included the Global Forum on Technology (GFTech), the Going Digital project, data free flow with trust, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, human rights in the digital age, and a review of the relevance of the OECD Recommendation on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the Environment.

Several chapters of the Digital Economy Outlook (DEO) were analysed with a view to its publication in 2024, namely “National Digital Strategies”, “Access and Connectivity”, “Digital Technologies and the Environment” and “Digital Security”.

The Committee also discussed its Work Programme and Budget for 2025-2026, which will be presented to the Budget Committee after the document has been declassified by written procedure.

The closed session, reserved for OECD members and the European Union, examined the applications for accession to OECD instruments by Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria and approved a list of observers from international organisations to the Committee on Digital Economy Policy.

The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for 19-21 November 2024.
