On 18 April 2023, ANACOM implemented the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/1730, of 28 September 2021, on the harmonised use of the paired frequency bands 874,4-880,0 MHz and 919,4-925,0 MHz and of the unpaired frequency band 1 900-1 910 MHz for Railway Mobile Radio.
This Decision establishes that Member States shall designate and make available on a non-exclusive basis the paired frequency bands 874,4-880,0 MHz and 919,4-925,0 MHz and, at the latest by 1 January 2025, based on national demand, the unpaired frequency band 1 900-1 910 MHz for the implementation of Railway Mobile Radiocommunications systems in accordance with the technical conditions set out in the Annex to this Decision.
The implementation of this Decision will ensure the maintenance of the GSM-R1 system, and the implementation of its successor FRMCS2, as well as the systems migration period.
