Approval given to preliminary draft Joint Order that subjects radioelectric easements to the areas adjacent to the Radioelectric Centre formed by Santa Maria geodesic station

On 15 February 2022, ANACOM approved the final version of the preliminary draft of the Joint Order making the areas bordering the Radioelectric Centre formed by the Santa Maria geodetic station (part of the Atlantic Network of Geodynamic and Space Stations) subject to radio protection easement.

The pre-draft was subject to a prior hearing of interested parties and to public discussionhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1622901, by ANACOM decision of 31 March 2021. ANACOM takes the view that there were no arguments or reasons arising from these procedures which justify, advise or require revision of the pre-draft.

The Atlantic Network of Geodynamic and Space Stations project consists of a network of four fundamental geodetic stations, to carry out studies in the area of astronomy, geodesy, geophysics and corresponding public service applications.

The radio easement scheme, implemented by the Joint Order, aims to eliminate, as far as possible, obstacles that affect radioelectric propagation, as well as interference caused by electrical equipment operating in the vicinity of the Santa Maria geodesic station.
