Establishing European Network and Information Security Agency

The regulation establishing the European Network and Information Security Agency was approved in the meeting of 19 February of the Council of Ministers for Internal Affaires and Justice, with the amendments proposed by the European Parliament.

In order to reinforce the capacity of the European Union (EU), the Member-States and the business community to prevent and solve the problems associated with network and information security, this European Agency aims at cooperating and complying with the requirements related to network and information security already foreseen in the current and future community legislation, taking into account the growing concerns as far as this domain is concerned. 

The Agency, which shall be headquartered in Greece, shall be operating, at the beginning, for a period of five years.
