ERO - Public consultation on numbering

A public consultation is available in the site of ERO - European Radiocommunications Office) with the title “Numbering for Services Based on SMS, MMS and USSD, and International Inbound Roaming Services”, launched together with the Numbering, Naming & Addressing Working Group (WGNNA), of the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC), and ERO, both integrating CEPT (European Conference of Post and Telecommunications Administrations).

This consultation is a complement, in the part related to SMS (Short Messaging Service), to the public consultation about the National Numbering Plan, launched by ANACOM in 2003 (which report, including the conclusions drawn from it, shall soon be published), since it contains a more detailed analysis of the following aspects: services inoperability and competition distortion, non discrimination in the allocation of numbering resources, consumer protection and administration and harmonization of the numbering resources.

The aim of this public consultation is to hear the several intervening parties in the market, namely providers/operators and consumers, mainly through their associations.

The replies to the consultation should be sent until 30 April in English, to the ERO, by email (humphries@ero.dk), fax (+45 33 89 63 30) or post (Nansensgade 19, DK-1366 Copenhagen K, Denmark).
