Revision of CAM circuit and inter-island circuit prices 2020 - notification of the European Commission


By decision of 4 February 2021, ANACOM approved the final draft decision to be notified to the European Commission (EC), the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the national regulatory authorities (NRAs) of all the other European Union (EU) Member States, on the revision of the prices of circuits connecting Mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira (CAM circuits) and the prices of the circuits connecting the different islands of the Azores (inter-island circuits), supported by submarine cables owned by MEO - Serviços de Comunicação e Multimédia (MEO), under the leased lines reference offer (LLRO) and the reference ethernet leased lines offer (RELLO).

Following the analysis carried out and as a result of the measures determined in ANACOM’s analysis of market 4https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1395262, ANACOM decided that MEO should:

  • maintain the traditional circuit prices, under its LLRO regulated offer;
  • reduce the (maximum) CAM circuit prices by 10% and inter-island circuits by 6%, under MEO's RELLO regulated offer. The new prices shall enter into force on 2 October 2020, the date on which approval was given to the draft decision that preceded the present decision.
