Special Connectivity Group - October 2020

The first meeting of the Special Connectivity Group was held on 16 October 2020 by videoconference. This group comprises representatives from the member-states and the European Commission (EC), in the scope of Commission Recommendation (EU) 2020/1307, and is co-chaired by the EC, the current German presidency and the upcoming Portuguese presidency of the European Union.

This group is meant to develop best practices, referred to as a set of common instruments (toolbox), to promote connectivity and place it at the service of economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, thereby helping reduce the cost of introducing very high capacity networks and to ensure timely and investment-friendly access to 5G radio spectrum.

The objectives, terms of reference and next steps to take by the Group were presented.
