The first meeting of project team A (PTA) of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) was held by videoconference last 7 and 9 September, focusing on European preparation for the 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23).
This group is responsible for developing proposals on matters concerning space science services, specifically Earth exploration by satellite service (EESS) and satellite weather service (Metsat), as well as common positions on some topics from the BR director’s report which constitute item 9.1 on the WRC-23 agenda.
As this was the first meeting of the new preparation cycle for WRC-23, the first draft briefs were produced. These are technical and regulatory support documents used to draw up European common proposals (ECPs).
The subjects discussed included spectrum identification and regulatory requisites applicable to (active) EESS service radar sounders, space research service in 15 GHz, (passive) EESS in 250 GHz, space-weather sensors, review of fixed service allocations for IMT applications and spectrum identification in 36 GHz for EESS.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 2021.
