CEPT’s Com-ITU held a videoconference meeting last 8 and 10 September which served to debate several European common proposals (ECPs) for the 2020 World Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly.
Four of those proposals were approved for the member-states to sign by October 2020. Portugal presented a proposed resolution on smart submarine cables, the aim being to have it formalised as an ECP for approval at the next Com-ITU meeting.
Work on preparing ECPs to submit to the 2021 World Telecommunications Development Conference also began. For that purpose, a specific project team was set up and coordinators appointed to review a set of recommendations and European contributions for the conference’s final declaration.
The next Com-ITU meetings will be held this coming 10 December (videoconference) and on 20 and 22 January 2021 (Bucharest, Romania).
