ANACOM explains DTT migration to the intermunicipal community in the Coimbra Region

A meeting was held on 6 August between ANACOM and the Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community (CIM RC) with the aim of disclosing information on the migration of the digital terrestrial television (DTT) network and the measures adopted by ANACOM to minimise the impact of this process on the people.

One of the aspects highlighted at this meeting by the Chairman of ANACOM, João Cadete de Matos, was the free telephone helpline (800 102 002), which is in operation every day from 9 am to 10 pm, for people to phone in and clear up any doubts they may have and get help synchronising their televisions or DTT scramblers. If they are unable to synchronise the equipment themselves or with the help provided through the helpline, ANACOM will schedule a visit to their home by its technical staff in order to synchronise it, free of charge. ANACOM also spoke about the distribution of a letter with an information leaflet to all homes and commercial establishments, as well as other planned communication initiatives.

The DTT transmitters serving the municipalities in the Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community will be changed between 1 and 17 September, starting with the Espinhal transmitter.

At the meeting, which was held under the scope of the Intermunicipal Council for the Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community, presided over by Carlos Monteiro, Vice-Chair of the Intermunicipal Council and Mayor of Figueira da Foz, the Mayor expressed his concerns about the fact that the digital terrestrial television coverage was via complementary means (satellite) in many places, and the problems regarding the postal service and the lack of mobile coverage in many regions of the Coimbra Intermunicipal Community.

The Coimbra Region Intermunicipal Community encompasses the municipalities of Arganil, Cantanhede, Coimbra, Condeixa-a-Nova, Figueira da Foz, Góis, Lousã, Mealhada, Mira, Miranda do Corvo, Montemor-o-Velho, Mortágua, Oliveira do Hospital, Pampilhosa da Serra, Penacova, Penela, Soure, Tábua and Vila Nova de Poiares.
