On 9 April 2020, ANACOM approved, on an exceptional and transitional basis, the decision on the proposal submitted by MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia, S.A. (MEO) to remedy the lack of coverage of the digital terrestrial television (DTT) service, via land line, in the locality of Baião, São Marcos da Serra, in the municipality of Silves.
In order to remedy the lack of coverage of the DTT service, via landline, claimed by three residents in the locality of Baião, after the retuning of the Foia transmitter (on 18 February 2020), ANACOM determined that MEO should ensure the reception of the DTT service via satellite (direct-to-home or DTH) to the final users covered, by providing them with DTH kits and installing the respective receiver systems by satellite, within the period of five business days.
When the conditions have been created to enable resuming the process of migration of the DTT network to the 700 MHz sub-band, MEO should comply with the provisions in number 11.4 of the DTT rights of use of frequencies (DUF), by informing ANACOM about the solution that it wishes to implement in order to strengthen coverage via land line, in the locality of Baião, São Marcos da Serra, municipality of Silves.
