The third meeting of project team 58 (PT58) on maritime mobile service and maritime radio-navigation of the working group on Frequency Management (WG FM) was held last 11-12 December in Tallinn, Estonia.
The work of WG FM PT58 mostly concerns matters involving maritime mobile service and maritime radio-navigation. The activity carried out by the group is reported to WG FM.
Various issued were considered at this meeting, of which the following stand out:
- Development of an ECC report on the implementation of digital voice radio telephony in the VHF maritime mobile band;
- Results from the questionnaire on licensing for personal radio equipment in the maritime scope within CEPT;
- New rules for registering radio beacons in 406 MHz;
- Interference in the frequencies for distress and safety communications of Appendix 15 of the Radio Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
