The switchover of the DTT transmitter network advanced to the 2nd phase, which began on February 24 and will end on March 10. Twenty-four transmitters will be switched, the first of which in Vila Nova de S. Bento, in the municipality of Serpa. But not all DTT users will be affected by this process. People will know that they are affected by the switchover if their TV shows a blank screen.
When the TV screen goes black, it will only be necessary to retune the TV or DTT decoder and it will be possible to continue watching TV free of charge, as has always been the case to date. It is a simple process. ANACOM has taken care to ensure that it will not be necessary to replace or redirect the antenna, change the TV or set top box, and no-one will need to subscribe to paid television services. Condominiums/buildings that have facilities with mono channel amplifiers may have to replace them.
To assist in this process, ANACOM has set up a freephone helpline (800 102 002), that operates every day between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., which people can call to clarify doubts and obtain support in tuning their television.
If anyone is unable to tune the equipment on their own or with the assistance provided via the freephone number 800 102 002, ANACOM will schedule a visit to the person's home to tune them in, with their own technicians and free of charge.
ATTENTION: ANACOM will only visit the houses of people who call 800 102 002 and only if, following this contact, a visit is scheduled. If a person has never called this number and someone knocks on their door saying that they are from ANACOM and that they are going to tune their equipment, that person should be careful and should not open the door, because whoever is at the door are certainly not ANACOM technicians.
ANACOM will disclose the information about the changes to DTT through a letter and leaflet which is delivered to all homes, summarising the relevant information for people to be able to adapt to this switchover process.
With the aim of extending the range of entities that can help divulge information and provide support to people, ANACOM has established a number of partnerships. These include Municipal Councils, Parish Councils, the GNR (military component with jurisdiction in civil law enforcement), and PSP (civilian Public Security Police), the Liga dos Bombeiros Portugueses (League of Portuguese Firefighters), the Instituto da Segurança Social (Social Security Institute), AMA - Lojas e Espaços do Cidadão (Citizen's Shops and Spaces), parish priests, the Corpo Nacional de Escutas - Escuteiros (National Scouts Corps), among other entities.
