Resolution 609 consultation meeting (WRC03)

/ Updated on 06.05.2004

The first consultation meeting between radionavigation by satellite service (RNSS) system notifying administrations, as requested by Resolution 609 approved at the most recent World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC03), was held in Geneva at the headquarters of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) on 8-9 December. Stephen Baruck (USA) and Dominic Hayes (United Kingdom) were respectively appointed the forum?s convener and vice-convener.

The appointment is valid for a period of three years or three meetings, whichever is shorter in time.

Participants in the meeting approved the forum?s mandate and the forms that must be filled out by RNSS system notifying administrations with their systems? characteristics and respective ?epfd? calculations, which should be released to the participating administrations. Also approved was a calendar of actions to be carried out by the Radiocommunications Bureau (BR) and by the RNSS system notifying administrations, to prepare for the next meeting.

As ?epfd? calculations were not submitted for all the RNSS systems that should have been taken into account for this meeting, as originally planned (only the European Galileo group ? GLS ? and Russia submitted calculations for their systems), a decision was made that this tariff will be developed at the group?s second meeting, scheduled for 2-4 June 2004 in Ottawa, Canada.
