''Second technical workshop on the discussion of geographical survey methodologies'' - October 2019

Brussels hosted last 22 October the “2nd technical workshop on the discussion of geographical survey methodologies”, co-organised by BEREC and the European Commission (EC).

This workshop’s main aim was to present and discuss guidelines for geographical surveys (document in public consultation - Ongoing Public Consultations and Calls for Inputs https://berec.europa.eu/eng/news_consultations/ongoing_public_consultations/5937-public-consultation-on-the-draft-berec-guidelines-on-geographical-surveys-of-network-deployments) with the national regulatory authorities (NRAs), the EC, other competent national authorities and members of the Broadband Competence Office (BCO) as well as stakeholders (operators, operator associations and other organisations).

The European Electronic Communications Code indicates in its article 22(7) that to help ensure consistent application of geographic surveys and forecasts, 18 months after it takes force and after consulting interested parties and in close cooperation with the EC and relevant national authorities BEREC should issue guidelines to help the NRAs and/or other competent authorities consistently apply the obligations incumbent upon them pursuant to the aforementioned article 22.
