The BEREC expert working group on Regulatory Framework met last 12 December in Brussels, focusing on numbering. The aim was to discuss implementation of numbering questions present in the European Electronic Communications Code.
The following topics are associated to this matter:
- Development of a database of ranges for extraterritorial use;
- Creation of a guide on criteria for evaluating the ability of companies that do not supply electronic communication services to manage numbering resources and the risk of exhaustion of numbering resources;
- Development of a database on international contacts of public safety answering points (PSAPs).
This was the working group’s first meeting. It served to present the above topics and discuss plans for each of them. Regarding topic 3, given that the European Communications Office (ECO) has already developed a database on PSAP international contacts, there will be no need to carry out any action. For the other two topics the upcoming tasks were determined; the work is ongoing.
