ECC WG NaN PT NPS meeting - October 2018

The ECC WG NaN project team on Number Portability and Switching (PT NPS) held a meeting last 10-11 October in Bucharest.

The team has been producing studies, reports and recommendations on aspects associated to simplification of operator switching, including number portability.

The following matters were considered at the meeting:

  • The responses of AT&T Serviços de Telecomunicações, Sociedade Unipessoal, the European Communications Office (ECO), the European Telecommunication Network Operators Association (ETNO) and the Malta Communications Authority (MCA) regarding the public consultation concerning ECC Report 274 on “Regulatory Analysis of Over-the-Air Provisioning of SIM Profiles Including Its Impact on Number Portability” were analysed. That report will be submitted for final approval at the next WG NaN meeting;
  • Recommendation ECC(11)02 on “Calling Line Identification and Originating Identification” was revised due to a perceived need to adjust it due to technological and applicational evolution increasingly used in this sector;
  • Participation in the workshop https://www.cept.org/ecc/groups/ecc/wg-nan/news/public-workshop-on-the-role-of-e164-numbers-in-international-fraud-and-misuse-of-electronic-communications-services-brussels-11-december-2018/ to be held on 11 December 2018 was planned and prepared. It will focus on the conclusions identified in the recently published ECC Report 275 on “The Role of E.164 Numbers in International Fraud and Misuse of Electronic Communications Services”. The workshop is also open to participants who do not pertain to national regulators, namely operators.

The next meeting has been scheduled for February 2019.
