At the end of the first half of 2018, there were 3.8 million subscribers to bundles of electronic communications services in Portugal (5.2% more at the end of the first half of 2017) with the addition of 189 thousand subscribers. This growth was mainly due to offers with quadruple and quintuple-play services (fixed telephone, fixed broadband, pay-TV, mobile phone and mobile Internet), which grew 7.3% with the addition of 117 thousand subscribers, and to a lesser extent, bundles with three services (fixed telephone, fixed Internet and subscription television), which increased by 6.3% or 93 thousand customers.
In the same period double-play offers lost 21 thousand customers, resulting in a decline of 4.1%.
In terms of the combinations preferred by consumers, quadruple and quintuple-play offers continued to be those with most use in the first half of 2018, with 1.7 million subscribers representing 45.3% of total customers. Triple-play offers, with 1.6 million subscribers, made up 41.7% of total customers.
Bundles of services had a penetration rate of 92.7 per 100 private families (+4.1 percentage points versus the same period of 2017).
Meanwhile, revenues derived from bundles of services totalled around 786 million euros as at the end of June. Quadruple-play and quintuple-play offers accounted for 60% of revenues from bundles, with triple-play making up 32.9%. On average, the monthly revenue per bundle subscriber (including residential and non-residential customers) was 34.62 euros (excluding VAT). In the case of the most used offers (quadruple/quintuple-play), the average monthly bill was 46.12 euros.
In the first half of 2018, MEO was the provider with the largest share of subscribers to bundles of services (40.5%), followed by Grupo NOS (37.7%), Vodafone (17.3%) and NOWO (4.5%). MEO led the market in the various types of offer.
